The MARGAReTS - Hi- Tech Dinner LP / CD (Pre-Order)
(Shipping Early July 2026) It’s no doubt that ‘77 punk and Bristol punk like Chaos UK, Disorder and Chaotic Dischord made a huge impact in Japan. The noisy and bouncy Kyushu punk sound are based entirely on this combination of influences. In 1989, the flagship Kyushu Punk bands like The Swankys had broken up, and a new wave of bands was forming. Chiba City and The MARGAReTS were about to deliver pound for pound with the originators in the post-Swankys era of fuzzy punk rock, building a scene of incredible and underrated bands playing in a similar style of raw '70s punk like their close compatriots in Tokyo, The Registrators, but like Kyushu Punk, Chiba City wasn’t about to forget the fuzz of Disorder, and Chaotic Dischord. The MARGAReTS were undoubtedly torchbearers of this scene. Their “Hi-Tech Dinner” gigs, aesthetic, penchant for 70s fashion, and signature sound acted as a center point that would influence and build the Chiba Punk scene, eventually birthing bands like The C&C, Screaming Noise, Dust Noise, and dozens more. They gigged regularly, gaining a revered cult status, and recorded several times, but never managed to release a record.
"Hi-Tech Dinner" is the career spanning MARGAReTS album featuring their best works which have been specifically remastered for vinyl.
The CD version is mastered separately for digital and features 35 tracks, which is the majority of their discography, leaving out only a few lower fidelity comp tracks.
