Never available on vinyl until now, “Substitute” is the second full length by this long running Tokyo hardcore band. D.S.B. put Japanese hardcore on the map for many punks overseas, especially many Americans as their 2003 tour basically blew the minds of everyone in the collective D.I.Y. hardcore scene at the time. Their energy, stage presence, and ultra punk look was as inspirational as their music, functioning like a call to action for those feeling inspired by hardcore. Hot on the heels of this tour, being locked in, tour tight, and at their peak, they decided to go into the studio and make an album of all their best early songs they felt were never properly recorded or done justice, along with some new ones. The result is a masterpiece and some of the most explosive hardcore punk from any time and anywhere.
